BEHIND A LOOK is a photography exhibition taken by well-known professionals from Uruguay. Its objective is to promote the social inclusion of people with the Down Syndrome.
It is an invitation for each one of us to contemplate new looks and to continue building that reality within our family, neighborhood, place of work, our environment.
A look builds a reality.
With our every day look we create a truth that then starts to materialize, identifying itself. Identity is not only built through self understanding and understanding of our surroundings, but also through personal and collective recognition, which we receive from other people’s look.
Photography depicts moments of reality and through them builds a way of looking. On this mission, six looks join together and strengthen to show a same reality, less biased, more open; the reality of an inclusive society that is open to enriching itself by means of diversity, growing in values and offering equal opportunities in accordance with individual possibilities.
These Photographs witness everyday situations, they aim at showing a possible ideal, a humanity where people with Down Syndrome are society, and actively participate in it.
This exhibition is an invitation for each one of us to contemplate new looks and to continue building that reality within their family, neighborhood, place of work, their environment. »Let’s look around.
